Bright Sardinian citrus rides over a base of gunpowder green tea, the rare Citrus monstruosa lending a push and pull of sweet, bitter and zesty all at once. Distilled in small copper-pot batches in County Leitrim, it stays fresh and lightly spiced through a long finish. Mediterranean sunshine on an Irish frame.

Description
The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, made its name with Gunpowder Irish Gin, and this edition sends it south. Twelve botanicals are distilled in small copper-pot batches, with the signature gunpowder green tea giving a slow-smouldering backbone, and the twist comes from Sardinia: the rare Citrus monstruosa, a knobbly fruit prized for the way its sweetness, bitterness and freshness argue with one another. It arrives boxed with an original Drumshanbo glass, the kind of thing collectors quietly covet.
The nose is lively with citrus, juniper and green tea over a fine thread of spice. The palate is balanced and fruity, soft sweetness folded into an aromatic herbal core, before a long, fresh, gently spiced finish carrying tea and orange. Pour over a quality Mediterranean tonic and garnish with a slice of fresh grapefruit.
