A seventeen year TDL single cask from Dràm Mòr, this 2007 Trinidad rum is bright and fruity at 57.5%, yellow fruits and caramel over mint, anise and a licorice-tinged finish.
Description
Dràm Mòr selected this single cask of Trinidad Distillers Limited rum, distilled in 2007 and aged seventeen years at cask strength. It comes from the living TDL distillery within the Angostura group, here showing the brighter, fruit-forward side of the house rather than overwhelming mint or aggression.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak from Trinidadian molasses, it leads with sweet tropical and yellow fruit, barrel and vanilla on the nose, then mint, caramel and a rounded sweetness on the palate, closing on fruity yellow fruits, licorice and oak. At 57.5% it stays easy-drinking for the strength, fruity and oak-driven, with the TDL mintiness present but restrained, a relief for those wearied by the marque's bigger menthol bombs. A welcoming, fruit-led entry into higher-strength TDL single casks.
