Description
Don Julio 70 Cristalino is an añejo tequila from the Don Julio distillery at Atotonilco el Alto in the Los Altos highlands, presented as the first añejo Cristalino, pairing the look of a blanco with the depth of an aged spirit. The brand carries the name of founder Don Julio Gonzalez and is one of the largest tequila houses in the world.
The spirit is aged for eighteen months in American white oak, then carefully charcoal filtered to strip the colour and lift a crisp agave character back to the surface, which is what makes a Cristalino, an aged tequila decolourised rather than an unaged one. Bottled at 35% ABV, it reads soft and rounded, with vanilla, honey and toasted oak over a clean agave core, and is built for drinking neat or over ice. The filtration trims the oaky grip, leaving a sweeter, lighter framed pour.
