A debut Guadeloupe agricole from Carrere under the Marie Louise label, pure cane juice rested in oak under the élevé sous bois tier, ex-bourbon aged at 49% with a warm allspice character from a young family estate in Grande-Terre.
Description
Marie Louise is a young Guadeloupe brand born on a family property in northern Grande-Terre, with rum distilled at Carrere from pure sugar cane juice. This Rhum Élevé Sous Bois sits in the lightly aged tier, oak-rested past a year and bottled at 49% from the 2022 harvest.
Élevé sous bois marks the first step into oak for agricole, the ambré stage where the spirit takes early colour and spice while keeping its cane freshness. Made from fresh-pressed juice and rested in ex-bourbon wood, this early release leads with a warm, rounded allspice note layered over the green cane backbone. As one of the first bottlings from a new estate it carries a sense of beginning, an honest, young French-island agricole from growers working their own land rather than a polished house blend.
