Black tea, dried fruit, dark chocolate and herbs over dry oak, a 30 year continental Uitvlugt carrying the PM marque from Distilia at 62%, powerful yet civil, a balanced and refined old Demerara.
Description
An Uitvlugt with Port Mourant character bottled by Distilia for The Golden Age of Piracy series, distilled in 1991 and continentally aged thirty years. The cooler ageing gives a drier, more restrained take on the PM profile than a tropical equivalent would.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at 62%, it rewards slow sipping with black tea, dried fruit, dark chocolate and herbs over dry, elegant oak. Despite the high strength the alcohol stays impressively civil, with few rough edges and little bitterness, the whole sitting balanced and almost easy for its power. This is a polished, medium weight PM, characterful and refined rather than brutal, the kind of old continental Demerara that delivers depth without demanding a fight from the drinker.
