Dillon Très Vieux Rhum V.S.O.P.

Dillon Tres Vieux Rhum V.S.O.P. is an aged Martinique agricole from the Dillon distillery, made from fresh-pressed cane juice and bottled at 43%. At eight years old it carries more age than the VSOP tier requires, and reads richer and more rounded than the distillery's younger four year expression.

Distilled on a column still and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it shows vanilla, banana and caramel over young wood, with citrus lift and a herbal, lightly sugared finish edged with tobacco. The wood leans youthful and the alcohol sits a touch forward, but the balance holds and the fruit keeps it interesting. It comes across as a gourmand, approachable aged agricole, more characterful than refined, and works well neat or as the base of a spirit-forward cocktail.
