A straightforward Martinique blanc from the Dillon estate, all fresh-cut grass, white pepper and a light fruity lift over raw sugar-cane sap, bottled dry at a brisk 50% for Ti’ Punch and the daiquiri rather than the armchair.
Description
Dillon Blanc is an unaged white rhum agricole from the Martinique distillery, distilled on a column still from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice rather than molasses. It sits firmly in the everyday, mixing-focused part of the range, an honest workhorse blanc rather than a collector's bottle, and it makes no pretence otherwise.
The nose is fresh and herbaceous, vegetal and floral with a peppery edge and a slim fruity veil over the cane. The palate keeps that clean, simple line, grassy and dry with a little sugarcane sweetness and a short spicy finish carrying a touch of vanilla. At 50% it has the backbone agricole needs to cut through lime and cane syrup, which is where it belongs: a Ti' Punch and daiquiri base that stays crisp and uncomplicated.
