Dictador’s 2 Masters teams the Colombian house with Tokaji maker Zoltan on a 1982 single cask, forty-three years deepening chocolate, honey and vanilla into coffee, dried fruit and toffee, a rich old sipper at 44%.
Description
This 2 Master release is among Dictador's most venerable, a single cask laid down in 1982 and finished in collaboration with the Hungarian Tokaji estate of Zoltan, the sweet-wine wood shaping its character. It is a column-distilled molasses rum from Destileria Colombiana, aged an extraordinary forty-three years.
The nose is sweet and inviting, chocolate, honey and vanilla edged with a sherried, cake-like richness from the wine cask. The palate carries coffee, chocolate, vanilla and honey, and the finish runs long and sweet with dried fruit, toffee and more chocolate. At 44% it is a deep, dessert-leaning old rum where four decades of maturation and a sweet-wine finish meet, a rare and indulgent Colombian sipper meant to be savoured slowly in small measures.
