Description
Darsa is a Guatemalan distillery that supplies independent bottlers, and here Hunter Laing has bottled a 2008 vintage under its Kill Devil line. Kill Devil works in the whisky-house tradition, natural strength or 46%, non-chill-filtered and without additives.
This expression carries ten years on column-distilled molasses spirit in ex-bourbon casks, and is confirmed unsweetened, so it should read drier and more honest than many Spanish-style rons. Expect the vanilla and soft caramel of bourbon-cask ageing carried on a clean Guatemalan base, with 46% giving it enough grip to stay lively. A straightforward, transparent take on Central American rum.
