Description
A Kylebeg Wood release in Midleton's Dair Ghaelach range, which finishes single pot still whiskey in hogsheads coopered from individual native Irish oak trees. This 2021 bottling draws on Tree 2 of Kylebeg Wood in Co. Wicklow, distilled by Irish Distillers in Co. Cork and issued at cask strength for the Netherlands.
American oak first, then virgin Irish oak: the spirit is matured in bourbon barrels before a finish in native Irish oak whose dense grain adds tannin and spice. Clove, dark chocolate and baking spice meet a green, resinous oak note over the peppery, oily pot still core of malted and unmalted barley. Undiluted at 56.1%, it finishes dry, warming and long.
