Description
The sixth tree in the Knockrath Forest chapter of Midleton's Dair Ghaelach range, a series that finishes single pot still whiskey in casks made from single native Irish oak trees. This 2019 edition was distilled by Irish Distillers in Co. Cork, its wood taken from Tree 6 in Co. Wicklow, and released globally at cask strength.
Matured first in American bourbon barrels and finished in a virgin native Irish oak hogshead, the whiskey gains a spicier, more tannic profile than standard Midleton. Clove, dark chocolate and baking spice sit over a resinous oak note and the creamy, peppery pot still base of malted and unmalted barley. Bottled without dilution at 56.6%, it delivers the bold Irish oak signature that defines the range.
