A Dailuaine of a 15 year old chosen by the Italian bottler Wilson and Morgan, distilled in 2009, from cask 310719, bottled at 57.4%, one of 302 bottles. Dailuaine sits at Carron on the Spey, a big, sherried Speyside malt rarely seen on its own. Its rich, robust malt has long been a backbone of the Johnnie Walker blends.

The spirit was made in large copper stills for a rich, robust make, for the rich, full bodied make Dailuaine is known for. An Oloroso hogshead lent fig, raisin and a savoury, nutty depth, the heavy spirit soaking it up. Into oxidative maturity, slow air ingress builds fruity ethyl esters (apple and dried fruit) over the meaty, malty depth. Dailuaine's heavy, malty make is prized by blenders for the body it gives. In 1889 it became the first distillery to use the pagoda roof, the Doig Ventilator designed by Charles Doig.

At a hearty 57.4% it carries real weight. A rich, full bodied sweetness, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. A dried fruit and a malty depth give it weight. Dried fruit, malt and a savoury oak see out the finish. This is the rich, full bodied Speyside malt of Dailuaine.
