A single cask Enmore from Polish purist house The Colours of Rum, thirty one years old and dry, with prunes, tobacco and leather over a barrel laced palate and a dry, roasted, prune driven finish at 47%.
Description
The Colours of Rum, the young Warsaw bottler with a top tier reputation for purist single casks, drew this 1994 Enmore carrying the REV signature, a venerable thirty one year old released without additives. Enmore runs on the world's last operating wooden Coffey still, and at this age it has taken on deep, dry, tannic character while keeping its cedar and tobacco grammar. It is bottled unsweetened.
Molasses based and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it noses on leather, prunes, barrel and tobacco, then carries that leather, tobacco, barrel and dark fruit across the palate before a dry, woody, roasted finish of prunes. There is tea, molasses and a fine herbal spiciness here too, the marks of a mature Demerara with a clear Enmore signature. At 47% it pours richly without the heat of higher proof, drier and woodier than some of its peers from the same year. A serious, deeply matured Enmore for those who prize dry, tannic old Guyanese rum.
