This Connemara Cask Strength batch was bottled for the Netherlands at 57.9%, undiluted peated single malt from the Cooley distillery in Co. Louth. Dutch drinkers took to Connemara early, and cask strength batches like this were the enthusiast's cut, varying in strength from release to release as the casks dictated.
Matured in ex-bourbon wood without an age statement, it delivers the range's signature trio of smoke, fresh fruit and honey at full force, heather peat carried on warm, oily spirit with vanilla underneath. Double distilled like all Cooley malt, it rewards a little water, which teases the fruit out from behind the smoke. This is Connemara with the seatbelt off.
