Description
This is a single ex-bourbon cask of peated Cooley malt, filled in 1992 when the Co. Louth distillery was still proving that smoke belonged in Irish whiskey. Cask K92/33 4084 was bottled in 2006 at fourteen years old under the Connemara label for the Polish market, part of the run of continental single casks that spread the brand through Europe in the 2000s.
Fourteen years in American oak mellow the peat into the honeyed, gently fruity register that defines mature Connemara, typically heather smoke over soft malt, vanilla and green orchard fruit. Bottled at 46% rather than full strength, it keeps single cask character within an approachable frame, double distilled in the Scottish manner as all Cooley spirit is.
