Description
Cask KEES001 pairs Clonakilty with Brouwerij Kees, whose imperial stout casks finished this Irish single malt for the Netherlands. Part of the Cask Finish Series and bottled in 2023, the release ran to 261 bottles, matured and finished at the Co. Cork distillery's warehouse near Galley Head.
The whiskey began in ex-bourbon casks, all vanilla and soft fruit, before the imperial stout wood layered on dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. At an undiluted 56.4% those roasty notes turn rich rather than bitter, and the malt's honey keeps the balance, a dessert like dram with real grip.
