Cask 6278 is a Special Limited Edition from Clonakilty, single pot still whiskey given a full Moscatel cask maturation rather than a brief finish. Bottled in 2025 at cask strength for the European market, the outturn came to 330 bottles from the family owned Co. Cork distillery.
Moscatel casks bring perfumed sweetness, white grape, orange blossom and honey, and here they meet the pepper and ginger prickle of the pot still mash bill head on. At 59.8% the texture is thick and oily, the sweetness concentrated, and water is almost obligatory, unlocking barley sugar, apricot and a long, spiced finish.
