Description
This single cask Clonakilty release was bottled in 2023 for the Netherlands, one of the Co. Cork distillery's beer cask experiments for the Dutch market. Cask HEMEL001 held Irish single malt matured in Clonakilty's coastal warehouse, then treated to casks from the Dutch brewery Brouwerij Hemel, with the outturn limited to 274 bottles.
Ex-bourbon casks provided the foundation of vanilla and orchard fruit before the brewery wood added malty depth, honey and a gentle hoppy bitterness. Bottled at a natural 56.3%, it is broad shouldered for an Irish malt, and a drop of water brings out cereal sweetness and toasted grain.
