Description
Part of Clonakilty's Cask Finish Series, this single malt is sourced Irish whiskey matured and finished by the Co. Cork distillery in its warehouse near the Galley Head lighthouse. Batch 040 runs to 3,500 bottles for Germany, with the cask work itself the point of the release.
Ex-bourbon casks handle the first maturation, laying down vanilla and orchard fruit, before Port casks add raspberry, plum and a rounder, sweeter body. Bottled at 43.6%, it drinks in the honeyed, fruit forward Irish single malt style with the Port sitting comfortably on top, and the Atlantic air of the coastal warehouse is the house's typical closing note.
