Description
Double Oak is one of Clonakilty's signature releases, built on sourced Irish single malt that the Co. Cork distillery matures and marries in its warehouse near Galley Head while its own pot still spirit comes of age. Batch 023 runs to 6,500 bottles for Europe.
Maturation splits between American oak, giving vanilla and coconut sweetness, and European oak, which brings toasted spice and a drier, nuttier grip. Bottled at 43.6%, it shows orchard fruit and honey in the classic Irish malt style, with the double oak recipe adding weight, and the salt air of the Atlantic warehouse is the house's quiet finishing touch.
