Description
Clonakilty, the family run distillery on Cork's Atlantic coast, set aside this single pot still whiskey as a one cask event bottling, cask CSAC001, limited to 350 bottles. The Amarone finish is a natural fit for the house's wine cask leanings, borrowing a cask that once held Valpolicella's rich, dried grape wine.
First matured in ex-bourbon casks, the whiskey then finished in the Amarone cask and was bottled undiluted at 53%. The pot still mash of malted and unmalted barley gives its trademark spice and oily texture, and the wine cask layers in dried cherry, fig and dark chocolate over vanilla, a combination with real depth at full strength.
