Description
This is the second batch of Clonakilty's 13 Years Old single grain, 1,400 bottles for the Dutch market. The distillery on Co. Cork's Atlantic edge only fired its stills in 2019, so the family are open about the whiskey inside: well aged sourced Irish grain, finished and bottled at their coastal warehouse in the bonder tradition while home distilled stock matures.
Thirteen years in Ex-Bourbon casks laid down soft toffee, banana and vanilla, and a Madeira cask finish adds the wine's signature tang of burnt caramel, raisin and gentle acidity. At 46% and without the weight of pot still spice, it is an easy, dessert leaning grain whiskey that suits slow evening drinking.
