Description
Chichibu is the craft flagship of Japan's post-2000 whisky revival, founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto in Saitama prefecture and operated under the Venture Whisky banner. This is a single cask, cask strength release from the 2015 vintage, drawn from a red wine cask and bottled in 2024 for the Polish market, carrying the Ichiro's Malt designation that marks Chichibu's own-distillery output.
Eight years in a red wine cask brings forward vivid red berry and dark cherry fruit, with the wine staves adding a tannic grip and a subtle earthy depth beneath. At 62.5% the spirit arrives concentrated and direct, framing the distillery's typically vibrant, fruit-forward new make character with a wine-influenced richness that rewards a small measure of water.
