Description
Ichiro's Malt is the house brand of Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, and releases bottled under this label for the Japanese domestic market represent some of the distillery's most deliberate single cask selections. This 8 Years Old was distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2022 at 64%, matured in Ex-Bourbon wood and released for Japan.
Eight years in bourbon wood is enough for Chichibu's new make to reach a notable level of maturity: the vanilla and toasted grain of American oak are fully integrated with the distillery's orchard fruit character, and the higher ABV of 64% means the spirit arrives with full flavour intensity. As a domestic Ichiro's Malt release, it offers Japanese collectors a concentrated, single cask expression of the Chichibu house style without the export market pricing.
