Old wood and rich dried-fruit notes from an Oloroso sherry cask define this four-year-old Ichiro’s Malt single cask from 2013, bottled at the distillery for an event at 61.9% cask strength, the sherry wood speaking loudly over Chichibu’s young Saitama spirit.

Description
Chichibu distillery in Saitama, Venture Whisky's flagship site, releases a portion of its single casks under the Ichiro's Malt brand, the label that founder Ichiro Akuto also uses for blended expressions. This 2013 vintage event bottling is a confirmed own-distillery single malt, selected from a single Oloroso sherry cask and bottled after just four years of maturation, one of the younger releases in Chichibu's standard single-cask programme.
At four years old, the sherry cask dominates the profile: old wood and dried-fruit richness typical of Oloroso maturation sit prominently over the new make's natural brightness, with only hints of the fresh, fruit-forward character that defines Chichibu at longer ages. Bottled at 61.9% without reduction for an event release, the high ABV carries the sherry influence with intensity. The finish is sweet, warming and dark-fruited, with wood spice rounding the close.
