A cask strength Dominican overproof from Compagnie des Indes, lightly funky and fruit forward with banana, citrus, brioche and a fresh, floral, sugarcane finish, an easy summer sipper or mixer at 55%.
Description
Released for Rhum Fest Paris 2025, this Dominican overproof from Compagnie des Indes is a fruity, floral surprise that leans on light high ester character rather than heavy oak. Bottled at a cask strength 55% with no age stated, it shows the bottler's willingness to chase characterful, lesser seen profiles across origins.
The nose opens on citrus, banana, floral notes and a brioche like bakery touch, with fermented, overripe fruit and a whiff of esters underneath. The palate turns vegetal, fruity and citrus driven with a flowery lift, and the finish stays fresh and oily with olive and sugarcane. The light funk recalls a softer take on Jamaican ester rum, more approachable than overpowering despite the strength. Added sugar is not disclosed, but the character reads dry and fresh, working equally well as a lively summer sipper or as a fruit forward base for daiquiris and other cocktails.
