A 4 year old navy-strength Jamaican blend of Clarendon and Long Pond bottled by Compagnie des Indes, fresh with banana, citrus and light ester over woody, spicy oak, robust at 57% and built for bold daiquiris or flavourful sips.
Description
Compagnie des Indes is the respected, terroir-led French bottler known for natural single casks and a few openly handled entry blends, and this navy-strength release blends pot still stock from Clarendon and Long Pond, two of Jamaica's characterful Trelawny and Clarendon houses. At four years it is young and lively rather than deep, matured in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at a navy 57%.
The nose is fresh and fruity with banana and light esters, the palate keeps that fresh banana and citrus alongside a woody edge, and the finish turns woody, spicy and oily with a raisin note. The blend brings the fruit and funk of the source distilleries together in an accessible, energetic frame, with enough strength to hold up in a drink. This is a natural next step for those who enjoy lighter Jamaicans and want more proof and funk without going full overproof, equally at home sipped neat or anchoring a bold, flavourful daiquiri.
