This Compagnie des Indes bottling captures a single 2011 cask from the Guatemalan distillery Darsa. Compagnie des Indes is a respected, terroir-led French bottler whose single casks are presented naturally, so this should be a more honest view of Guatemalan rum than the sweeter mainstream brands.
With twelve years on molasses-based spirit in ex-bourbon oak, expect the vanilla and soft caramel of bourbon-cask ageing carried on a clean Central American base. Bottled at 43% from a single cask, it should feel a touch more concentrated than a standard blend.
