An unsweetened single cask of Clarendon bottled by Compagnie des Indes for Denmark, fifteen years old from a 2007 vintage in ex-bourbon at a powerful 57.5%, a dry, full-proof reading of funky Jamaican molasses rum.
Description
Selected by French bottler Compagnie des Indes and released for the Danish market, this is a fifteen year old single cask of Clarendon Jamaican rum from a 2007 vintage, aged in ex-bourbon and bottled unsweetened at a cask-strength 57.5%. Compagnie des Indes is a respected, terroir-led house whose single casks are presented natural, with no added sugar.
Clarendon runs both pot and column stills, and its pot-still marks carry real Jamaican funk over robust tropical fruit and spice. Ex-bourbon ageing typically lends vanilla, dried orange and oak that frame rather than mask that character, and at full proof the spirit should arrive concentrated and oily. With no dosage and cask strength behind it, this is the honest, undressed face of Clarendon, banana and varnish funk meeting bourbon-cask warmth at a serious strength.
