The Vintage Malt Whisky Co Ltd selected this Cameronbridge, aged 29 year old distilled in 1992, from cask 115060 and bottled at 51%. Just 240 bottles were filled. Cameronbridge was founded in 1824 by John Haig, of the great Haig distilling family, in Fife. As well as grain whisky, it makes the neutral spirit for Gordon's and Tanqueray gin and Smirnoff vodka.

The spirit was made in continuous stills from wheat for a light spirit, for a light, sweet make of real purity. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla and crème brûlée. Past two decades the grain deepens into coconut, toffee and crème brûlée. Light grain takes oak readily, the ex-Bourbon lending coconut and vanilla. The distillery sits at Windygates in the Kingdom of Fife, near the River Leven. Light grain spirit like this gains coconut and toffee from decades in active oak. Pot stills for malt whisky were removed in 1929, leaving Cameronbridge a pure grain plant.

At a natural 51% it is full and oily. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, cream and a dessert sweetness. The mouthfeel is oily, the coconut carried on a sweet body. The finish runs buttery, soft and warm. This is the clean, sweet grain of Cameronbridge.
