A cask strength Diamond single cask from Cadenhead, distilled in 2011 on a pot still and bottled unsweetened at 10 years and 55% from ex-bourbon, a fuller, woodier take on Guyanese rum from a long established bottler.
Description
Cadenhead is one of Scotland's oldest independent bottlers, and this 2011 Diamond was released as an unsweetened single cask. Distilled on a pot still at DDL's home distillery, it spent 10 years in ex-bourbon before bottling at a full 55%.
While Diamond is best known for its lighter column rum, this pot still expression carries more body. Expect a woodier, richer profile of dark fruit, brown sugar and spice, bottled at cask strength so the spirit and oak show without restraint. Unsweetened and natural, it is a direct, value minded pour from a heritage bottler, worth catching at its strength.
