Description
Distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2022, this 11 year old single malt from Bushmills was released as part of The Causeway Collection and finished in Cognac casks at 47.0 percent ABV. The Cognac influence frames the spirit’s fruit character rather than redirecting it, adding shape and softness without masking the underlying malt.
At this age, the spirit carries enough weight and oak development to absorb secondary cask influence without extended finishing. The Cognac casks contribute through texture and aromatic lift, allowing the base fruit profile to remain clear and recognisable.
On the nose, the whiskey leans into yellow fruit and gentle sweetness. Pear, mirabelle and honeydew melon come through alongside soft toffee, honey and light malt, with subtle oak spice providing structure beneath the fruit.
The palate continues in a fruit-led direction. Vanilla and honey sit alongside nutty tones and a light pepper warmth, with a creamy, bakery-like sweetness developing through the mid palate. Oak presence is measured, supporting the profile without hard edges.
The finish is medium to long, remaining creamy and lightly oily as honeyed sweetness, soft spice and nutty notes linger together. Marzipan and gentle oak spice carry through without drying the palate.
