Pomerol is known for Merlot-led wines with plush red fruit, plum, black cherry and a naturally supple tannin profile. Casks seasoned with these wines carry fruit-derived compounds and soft phenolic material into the oak, which dissolve into the spirit during finishing. The influence shows as concentrated red fruit, spiced depth and gentle tannin grip layered over the underlying malt and early cask structure.
Bottling at higher strength extends flavour delivery across the palate, giving the whiskey momentum and persistence. On the nose, ripe red berries, orchard fruit and citrus peel sit over seasoned oak. The palate is dense and fruit-driven, with plum, cherry and spiced oak carried by integrated tannins. The finish is long and expressive, with red fruit and spice continuing as the palate gradually dries.
