Brewdog Abstrakt Madagascan Vanilla X Toasted Marshmallow Vodka

BrewDog's distilling arm made this Abstrakt vodka as a frankly indulgent flavoured bottling. The base spirit is distilled five times in copper stills, repeated distillation that smooths the spirit by stripping away rougher congeners and giving it a clean, soft platform. Onto that go two flavours: rich Madagascan vanilla and toasted marshmallow, the vanilla bringing creamy sweetness and the marshmallow a warm, caramelised edge. The two settle into something full and dessert-like, bottled at 38%. It is designed to be enjoyed slowly rather than buried in a mixer.

The nose is intense vanilla with toasted, sugary marshmallow behind it. The palate is full and creamy with sweet vanilla, roasted marshmallow and a gentle spice, and the finish is long and warm with a sweet aftertaste. Lean fully into the dessert character with a White Russian: build it over ice with a measure of coffee liqueur and a generous float of cream, stirring gently so the vanilla and marshmallow sweetness wraps around the coffee.
