Description
Böser Kater Dumme Nuss Likör is a hazelnut liqueur from the Edelobstbrennerei Schleihauf in Germany, built on roasted hazelnut layered with caramel and a hint of chocolate. It sits at 20%, with a creamy texture and a balance between sweetness and roasted flavour that places it at the dessert end of the range. In the traditional nut liqueur style, the roasted nut leads and caramel and vanilla fill it out.
The nose is intense hazelnut with roasted caramel, vanilla and fine chocolate, and the palate is full bodied, creamy and gently sweet, dominant roasted hazelnut with toffee and a hint of nougat. Behind the bar it is a nutty body and dessert ingredient: it gives a nut Martini its roasted core, adds praline depth to a White Russian or an Espresso Martini, and underpins a hazelnut Old Fashioned. It also pours neat or over ice, and works over vanilla ice cream. A useful bridge between the coffee and dessert ends of a menu.
