Bols Pink Grapefruit Liqueur

Bols Pink Grapefruit belongs to the citrus side of the Bols fruit range, made by the Amsterdam house distilling and blending since 1575 and long known for its citrus liqueurs. Pink grapefruit is combined with sugar and a neutral distilled spirit into a fruity, faintly bitter liqueur at 17%, made in the traditional macerated style that keeps the zesty character.

The nose is fruity and slightly bitter with clear citrus, the palate sweet and fruity and tart with a gentle grapefruit bitterness, the finish long on the palate. It is a touch sweet for sipping neat, which is exactly why it earns its keep as a mixer: it brings grapefruit flavour, a bittersweet citrus lift and a soft pink tint that brightens and balances a drink. It builds an easy grapefruit spritz or highball, lifts a Paloma riff, and adds citrus backbone to sours and long drinks. Pour it long over ice with soda or sparkling wine.
