Bols Kiwi belongs to the fruit liqueur range of Bols, the Amsterdam house that has been distilling and blending since 1575 and now carries around forty flavours used by working bartenders. Kiwi fruit is combined with sugar and a neutral distilled spirit to carry a bright green liqueur at 17%, made in the traditional macerated style that keeps the fruit fresh rather than syrupy.
The nose is fresh kiwi with light citrus and tropical fruit, the palate fruity and sweet and sour with juicy kiwi and subtle exotic nuances, the finish refreshing and soft with a slight acidity. Behind the bar it adds tangy green fruit, a touch of sweetness and vivid colour, the kind of modifier that lifts and brightens a sour. It carries a Kiwi Daiquiri with white rum and lime juice, works as a tart component in a kiwi spritz with prosecco and soda, and dresses tropical long drinks. Pour it over ice or shake it into fruit forward serves.
