Description
Bols Butterscotch comes from Lucas Bols, the Amsterdam house distilling and blending liqueurs since 1575, and sits within the brand's wide range of bar liqueurs, bottled at 24% in 70cl. It folds caramel and butterscotch into a creamy, full-bodied liqueur with a smooth texture, built for the dessert and sweet end of a cocktail menu rather than the bittersweet one.
The nose is freshly baked caramel with a mild vanilla note and a gentle buttery edge, the palate full-bodied and creamy with a clear caramel note, a mild butteriness and vanilla, the finish long and warm with caramel and vanilla lingering. Its job in a glass is rich sweetness and a buttery body, which makes it a natural in a Butterscotch Martini, a Butterscotch Sour or a caramel Espresso Martini, and a useful sweetener wherever a toffee note is wanted. Pour it neat over ice, or over vanilla ice cream as a dessert. A dependable caramel note for the back bar.
