Description
Bols Amaretto comes from Lucas Bols, the Amsterdam house that has been distilling and blending liqueurs since 1575, one of the oldest spirits names in the world. It is part of the Bols range of around forty flavours used by bartenders worldwide, bottled here at 24% in 70cl. In the traditional amaretto style the almond note leads, layered with vanilla and a gentle sweetness over a smooth body.
The nose is roasted almonds, fresh nuts and a delicate hint of vanilla, the palate sweet and smooth with a fruity nutty sweetness and a harmonious spice, the finish long and mild with a velvety almond and vanilla close. Its job in a glass is nutty sweetness with real stone-fruit body, which makes it the backbone of an Amaretto Sour and a natural in an Amaretto Coffee, while a splash rounds out a Manhattan riff or a cola serve. Pour it neat over ice as a digestif after a meal. A familiar almond note for the back bar from a long-standing house.
