Description
Batch 002 in the Whistler Cask Finish Series from Boann Distillery in Drogheda, Co. Meath, a blended Irish whiskey of sourced malt and grain given a secondary maturation in Imperial Stout barrels. Beer casks are a modern Irish signature, and the stout's roasted grain character makes a natural bridge back to whiskey, bottled here at 43% for the European market.
The stout barrels layer dark chocolate, roasted nut and coffee over the blend's Ex-Bourbon base of vanilla and fresh oak, with cooked and fresh orchard fruit keeping the middle lively. Malt extract sweetness rounds it out, and the finish turns gently bitter in the best way, cocoa and toasted grain against a soft, creamy texture. A dependable after dinner blend with a stout drinker's heart.
