Boann Distillery in Drogheda, Co. Meath triple distills a mash of malted and unmalted barley in unusually small pots, chasing a fruity spirit with the classic pot still prickle. This core range bottling, released in 2024 for the European market, matured in Ex-Bourbon American oak before a seasoning in Madeira casks, and was bottled at 47%.

The Madeira wood brings baked orange, caramel and a gently oxidative edge to the American oak's vanilla, while the spirit itself contributes malt extract sweetness, fresh cut hay and an earthy, mossy undertone that keeps things rooted. Citrus brightens the middle, black pepper and ginger warm the finish, and the 47% strength gives it more grip than most entry level Irish whiskey.
