Description
Distilled at Boann in Drogheda, Co. Meath in 2021 and bottled four years later, this event release is a single pot still whiskey with an unusual upbringing, its full term spent in a single Tawny Port cask, number 211485. It was bottled in 2025 at its natural strength of 60.5%, a run of 264 bottles.
Tawny Port is aged oxidatively, so its casks give walnut, caramel and dried cherry rather than the bright red fruit of Ruby pipes, and those notes settle deep into the young spirit here. Underneath, the house pot still character holds firm, black pepper, ginger and a creamy, oily texture from the unmalted barley in the mash, with orange peel and toasted oak carrying the cask strength finish.
