Blended Scotch Whisky 1977 MBl The Maltman (Meadowside Blending) is a blended Scotch from Meadowside Blending. It marries malt and grain whiskies, with Highland malt such as Clynelish for a waxy depth. The lost Brora distillery beside it, closed in 1983, was revived by Diageo in 2021.

Clynelish lends an oily, waxy Highland texture to the blend. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed vanilla. The waxy, oily spirit takes cask flavour well while keeping its citrus and coast. Two old Brora warehouses still stand on the site, a link to its silent neighbour. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the waxy, citrussy core over the years. Refill oak lets the famous Clynelish wax lead, lemon and honey beneath. A coastal maturation lends a faint brine to the oily, waxy malt. Years in oak round the spirit, the citrus deepening to orange and tropical fruit.

At cask strength 44.6% it is full bodied. A waxy, oily texture runs through it, with citrus, honey and a coastal lift. It is waxy and citrussy, the oily spirit shining through. The close is long, wax over a citrus lift. A characterful blended Scotch.
