Big Kahuna Pineapple Gin

Made in Germany at the Perola distillery, Big Kahuna takes its name and its mood from Duke Kahanamoku, the surfing pioneer who carried the aloha spirit out of Hawaii and into the wider world. A generous load of fresh pineapple goes in alongside the botanicals, joined by lavender, apricot and orange, so the tropical character is no afterthought but the whole point of the gin.

The nose is sweet and unmistakably tropical, all juicy pineapple and warm fruit. On the palate that pineapple turns intense and ripe, softened by apricot and a floral lift of lavender, while juniper holds the structure underneath. The finish runs long and fruity. Pour it over plenty of ice with a light tonic and a wedge of pineapple, or build it into a tiki-leaning long drink.
