Description
Berliner Persico Sauerkirschenlikoer is a sour cherry liqueur from Schilkin, the long established Berlin distiller best known for the Berliner Luft peppermint liqueur and in business since 1932. A cult drink from the 1970s, it is built on carefully selected sour cherries balancing fruity sweetness against a pleasant acidity, bottled at 16%. In the traditional cherry liqueur style the fruit carries a natural almond and marzipan undertone.
The nose is an intense cherry aroma with fine almond and marzipan notes, the palate full bodied and fruity with a sour cherry acidity and a sweet core, the finish long, smooth and slightly tart with a fruity depth. Behind the bar sour cherry brings fruit flavour, a tart backbone and a deep colour, the kind of note that lifts and balances a sweeter drink. It combines well with sparkling wine or Prosecco for a cherry spritz, and pours neat, well chilled or over ice. Serve it cold.
