Description
Berliner Luft Schoko is a chocolate version of the Schilkin peppermint liqueur from Berlin, bottled at a gentler 15% in 70cl. It keeps the brand's signature peppermint and adds a chocolate note for a creamy smoothness, with the range's faint anise, wormwood and gentian sitting beneath. In the modern flavoured peppermint style it reads more like a mint-chocolate after-dinner liqueur than a bittersweet one, built for the cooler months.
The nose is fresh herbal peppermint paired with a delicate hint of chocolate, the palate a balance of cool mint and gentle chocolate sweetness with a creamy smoothness, the finish long and mild with a minty kick rounded by a sweet chocolate close. Its job in a glass is a mint-chocolate body and sweetness, which suits it neat over ice as a digestif after a meal, or stirred into dessert cocktails where mint and chocolate belong. A grasshopper riff or a peppermint hot chocolate float both make good use of it. Serve cold.
