Baileys created the cream liqueur category in 1974, marrying Irish whiskey with fresh dairy cream in a stable emulsion that needs no preservative, and it remains the original and best selling name in the category, sold across more than 150 countries. This chocolate edition keeps that base and layers in the flavour of Belgian chocolate and freshly ground cocoa, bottled at 15.7%.
The nose carries Belgian chocolate and cocoa over subtle whiskey notes, the palate velvety and full bodied with sweet chocolate, Irish cream and fine whiskey, the finish long and smooth with a chocolaty aftertaste. Behind the bar it is a dessert and body ingredient, adding dairy richness, chocolate sweetness and weight: it floats into an Irish coffee, deepens an Espresso Martini or a Mudslide, and layers into sweet, after dinner serves. It pours neat or over ice and sits beside chocolate mousse, cake or cheesecake. As a dairy product it should be kept cool once opened and used within a few months.
