Croatia’s national plum spirit from Badel 1862, intense with ripe plums over soft oak and vanilla at a full 40%; fruity and warming, it works as a base for fruit forward stirred drinks or chilled neat as an aperitif.

Description
Badel Sljivovica comes from Badel 1862, the Croatian house making spirits and liqueurs since 1862. The name derives from the Croatian word for plum, and the drink it names is Croatia's national spirit, a plum brandy long made across the region. This older style is bottled at a full 40%, with plum at its heart and soft oak, vanilla and honey filling out the frame.
The nose is fruity with clear hints of plums, the palate intense and ripe with stone fruit over a long finish. Behind the bar it brings genuine plum fruit and warmth, a base for fruit forward stirred drinks and sour riffs where its ripe character can carry the glass, or a fruity lift stirred into dark spirit serves. Tradition takes it well chilled as an aperitif before a meal, and it pours neat over ice just as readily. A regional fruit spirit that gives a back bar a Balkan plum note few other bottles can.
