Description
Badel Orahovac is a traditional green walnut liqueur from Badel 1862, the Croatian house working since 1862. It is built on the rich natural flavour of green walnuts, the unripe nuts long used across the region to make a bittersweet nut liqueur in the style of an Italian nocino, here bottled at 24% with a distinctive nutty aroma.
The nose is rich in walnut notes, the palate intense with green walnuts, the finish long, with hazelnut, almond, vanilla, caramel and cocoa filling out the frame. Behind the bar it brings roasted walnut depth, a gentle bitterness and body, a useful way to add nutty character to a dark, spirit forward stirred drink or to round out a coffee serve. Tradition serves it well chilled as an aperitif, and it pours neat over ice or over vanilla ice cream just as well. A back bar bridge between the nut and digestif ends of a menu, with a flavour few other bottles carry.
