Description
This bottling comes from the Inführ sparkling wine cellar near Klosterneuburg, one of Austria's most decorated houses. It is a flavoured, wine based speciality rather than a classic Sekt, built on the local pairing of Grüner Veltliner and Welschriesling and finished in stainless steel to keep it fresh and light at 9.5 percent alcohol. The talking point is the 23 carat gold leaf suspended in the bottle, which is food safe and swirls into a golden shimmer when the bottle is turned.
The wine is light gold with fine gold particles catching the light and a soft perlage. Delicate peach leads the nose over apple and pear, with a floral edge and a touch of honey, and the palate is silky and gently off-dry with a rounded finish around 18 grams of residual sugar. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees as a celebratory aperitif. It suits light starters, mild fish, fresh salads and fruit based desserts.
